Evhen Perebyinis Addresses Diplomats at Crimea Platform Event

According to МЗС: Evhen Perebyinis, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister, participated in a diplomatic event titled 'On the Path to the Crimea Platform,' organized by the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. He highlighted that since its establishment in August 2021, the Crimea Platform has evolved into a multifaceted international initiative involving government, parliamentary, and expert levels. This structure plays a crucial role in maintaining global attention on the illegal occupation of Crimea.

Human Rights and Expert Contributions within the Crimea Platform

A key focus of the Crimea Platform is protecting the rights of Ukrainian citizens subjected to political persecution. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its commitment to collaborating with both domestic and international human rights groups to develop an advocacy mentorship program aimed at supporting individuals imprisoned for political reasons. This human rights dimension targets the identification and prevention of widespread violations committed by the Russian occupying authorities in Crimea.

Additionally, the expert component of the Crimea Platform works on creating strategic recommendations for Crimea’s recovery and setting priorities for Ukraine’s reintegration policies following the peninsula’s eventual de-occupation. Perebyinis remarked:

“What began as a diplomatic initiative has transformed into a comprehensive international framework spanning government, parliamentary, and expert sectors. These elements complement each other and ensure the issue of Crimea’s unlawful occupation remains a priority on the international agenda.”

In the context of ongoing Russian aggression and occupation, the Crimea Platform continues to gain significance. Efforts to uphold human rights and advocate for political prisoners are becoming central to Ukraine’s international policy. This platform’s progress is vital for raising global awareness about Crimea’s situation and exploring future pathways toward its liberation.
