Crisis Situation in the Kyiv Region

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Kyiv region has found itself in a crisis situation in the area of housing and communal services due to the lack of technical conditions for electricity supply in over 700 multi-apartment buildings. Of these, approximately 300 are located in Kyiv, and over 400 in neighboring areas of the region. This problem has arisen as a result of gross violations committed by many developers, who have put facilities into operation without proper documentation.

Necessary Investments and Solutions

According to expert estimates, constructing new transformer substations is necessary to provide electricity to such a number of houses. This will require billion-dollar investments, complicating the solution to the issue. As specialist Oleg Popenko noted:

‘It is impossible to solve the issue. It is physically impossible. And who will complete these houses? We are talking about billions. To build transformer substations there, we are talking about a million, maybe two. There is really no way out of this situation. There is indeed a huge problem.’

Thus, the situation in the Kyiv region requires urgent response from the state and local authorities, as the lack of electricity supply can have serious consequences for the residents of new buildings. Solving this issue requires not only financial investments but also a systemic approach to controlling the quality of construction and ensuring the necessary infrastructure. Without proper response, the existing crisis may lead to further social and economic problems in the region.
