Ksenia Shevchenko's Personal Tragedy

According to Главком: Ukrainian model and blogger Ksenia Shevchenko has announced the death of her father in a Russian drone attack on the city of Nikopol on April 4, 2026. The strike occurred at 9:40 AM, directly killing her father. Shevchenko expressed profound grief and shock, stating:

“Russia killed my father on 04.04.2026 at 9:40 during a drone attack in Nikopol. His head was torn off, and then he burned.” - Ksenia Shevchenko

Her father is survived by an 11-year-old daughter and his common-law wife, who is not the girl's biological mother. Shevchenko now intends to seek legal guardianship of her younger sister, assuming responsibility for her upbringing. She explained:

“My 11-year-old sister and his common-law wife, with whom he lived nearly 10 happy years, remain. Unfortunately, she is not my sister's biological mother, as our birth mother is not present. He took care of his family-his wife, daughter, and his parents (my grandparents). Now I am taking on this responsibility.” - Ksenia Shevchenko

The Attacks on Nikopol

Strikes on Nikopol on April 4 and 5, 2026, resulted in numerous civilian casualties:

  • On April 4, the Russian army struck a market in Nikopol, wounding 25 people. Eight required hospitalization, including a 14-year-old girl.
  • On April 5, an FPV drone attacked a civilian car in Nikopol, killing one person instantly.

Shevchenko emphasized that she currently needs work, not sympathy: “I feel hatred. But I am holding on and I have enough strength.” This tragic event underscores the ongoing human cost of the war in Ukraine, where frontline cities like Nikopol face constant shelling from Russian forces across the Dnipro River. The situation in Nikopol remains tense, as such attacks not only claim lives but also tear families and communities apart. Military actions in Ukraine continue to inflict harm on countless civilians, leaving them without support after losing loved ones. Ksenia Shevchenko's tragedy is a stark testament to the suffering endured by Ukrainian society and highlights the urgent need for sustained international attention to the conflict's humanitarian consequences.
