There is a significant difference in the employment levels of Ukrainian migrants in European Union countries, ranging from 78% to 17%. Ukrainians have successfully integrated in Poland, where nearly 80% of working-age individuals are employed. This is confirmed by the results of a new study published by European analysts. In Poland, it is reported.

Leaders in Employment Levels

Poland ranks first with an employment rate of 78%. Following are:

  • Lithuania — 72%

  • United Kingdom — 69%

  • Sweden — 66%

  • Czech Republic — 63%

  • Denmark — 62%.

The top ten countries with the highest employment rates also include the USA, Estonia, the Netherlands, and France — ranging from 42% to 61%. These countries, researchers say, have created effective conditions for the adaptation of Ukrainians, from simplified employment procedures to language integration programs.

Where It Is More Difficult to Find Work

Not everywhere have Ukrainians been able to integrate quickly into the labor market. In Spain, only 17% of refugees have jobs, in Norway — 31%, and in Latvia — 33%. Experts explain this by stricter language requirements, a lower number of vacancies in the manufacturing sector, and a more developed social support system, which does not encourage quick employment.

According to international employment expert Vitaliy Belents, Poland has managed to create the most favorable conditions for the labor integration of Ukrainians due to a flexible approach to legalization and simple requirements in the labor market.

«Poles quickly understood that Ukrainians are not only temporary workers but also a valuable human resource. There is a clear system for document processing, a large number of vacancies in production, logistics, and construction. That is why most migrants find work within the first months after arriving,» said Belents.

Factors Influencing Success

Experts associate the high employment rates in Poland, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic with geographical proximity to Ukraine, linguistic similarities, and active state policies supporting labor adaptation. In these countries, Ukrainians often work in manufacturing, construction, logistics, trade, and services, and some have already started their own businesses.
