Latvia's Stance on Negotiations with Russia

According to Главком: Latvia has articulated its position regarding talks with Russia, stating that there is no visible political will for peace on the Russian side. Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže emphasized that the negotiation format from Russia has stalled, describing these talks as dishonest. She added that the core issue remains the absence of political will to end the war. This assessment reflects the deep skepticism among many NATO and EU members regarding Russia's intentions in Ukraine.

Technical Talks and Sanctions

At present, technical-level negotiations involving intelligence representatives are ongoing. Furthermore, Latvia is actively contributing to the development of the European Union's 20th sanctions package against Russia. The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has also stated the bloc's position, declaring that the European Union will not accept a peace on the aggressor's terms. These coordinated statements underscore a unified European front.
