Ukrainian athletes won a bronze medal on the third day of the European Youth Olympic Festival. Athlete Vitaliy Tarasyuk took third place in the 5000-meter race walk with a time of 20:55.71.
The first place at this competition was won by Italian Nicolo Vidal, and the second by Spaniard Gabriel Gonzalez. The Ukrainian team has already won four medals at this tournament, including gold and bronze in swimming.
Maxim Manenko said that boxer Oleksandr Usyk's victory serves as inspiration for him: 'Don't push the horses. I meant to show that I am the best in my weight category at this tournament. This was a certain step in preparing for the World Championship, which will take place in two months.'
Kyrill Hurnov, a member of the Ukrainian taekwondo team, commented on his bronze medal: 'Every athlete dreams of gold and strives to achieve it, but a medal at such a high level of competition is also a significant achievement.'
Ukrainian athletes have shown high results at the European Youth Olympic Festival, having already won four medals. This confirms the high sports potential of our country among the youth, as well as the preparation of athletes for international competitions.
