Funding Challenges for Leleka's Eurovision 2026 Performance

According to Главком: Leleka, the singer who won Ukraine's national selection for Eurovision 2026, is facing major financial hurdles in preparing for the contest. The performance in Vienna this year requires enormous sums of money, and currently, the artist's entire team is working on a volunteer basis. Consequently, Leleka plans to seek sponsors to secure the necessary financial backing for her act. The high costs of staging a competitive Eurovision entry often place a significant burden on artists from all participating nations.

Revised Song and Overwhelming Public Support

On March 8, Leleka presented a revised version of her competition song, 'Ridnym.' The new version features musical changes, including updates to the bandura part. During the national selection, the singer received maximum support, earning 10 points each from the jury and the public televote for a perfect total score of 20 points.

Leleka: 'Right now there are no expenses because there is nothing to spend. We plan to start looking for sponsors or some form of involvement very soon, because the sums are colossal. Everything at Eurovision costs a lot. I couldn't imagine the amounts would be this large and that we would have to find them ourselves, which adds both drive and risk to this entire endeavor.'

The singer also noted that she does not want to end up in a situation similar to past finalists who failed to secure the necessary funds and are still paying off debts. 'I really hope that doesn't happen to us. This isn't about my personal creative fulfillment right now. We want to represent Ukraine as worthily and beautifully as possible,' she added.

Therefore, Leleka and her team are in a difficult position as they attempt to find sponsors to fund their preparation for one of Europe's biggest music competitions. Her situation highlights the financial pressures independent artists face when representing their country on a global stage like Eurovision.

As Leleka prepares for her upcoming performance, the stakes are high, especially following the recent unveiling of her updated song for Eurovision 2026. The changes reflect her commitment to delivering a captivating entry, but securing sponsorship remains crucial to ensuring a successful representation of Ukraine in Vienna.
