Chernobyl liquidator loses home due to RF strike
Робітник, який брав участь в ліквідації наслідків аварії на Чорнобилі, опинився без даху над головою через російський обстріл Вишневого.

Strike on Vyshneve: Destruction and Human Toll

According to Главком: A Russian attack on the town of Vyshneve in the Kyiv region on July 6 caused severe damage to residential areas and resulted in casualties. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the strike hit an ammunition depot, triggering a massive explosion. The attack killed 9 people, wounded dozens more, and forced over 500 residents to evacuate the danger zone.

Among those affected is 75-year-old Vasyl Myshynskyi, a Chornobyl nuclear disaster liquidator who holds a second-group disability status. He described the terrifying moments when the strike occurred:

'Compared to this, Chornobyl was like child's play. Back then, I was covering the reactor from a helicopter. But here, they were firing directly at us.' Vasyl Myshynskyi

Myshynskyi lost his home and said, 'I had my own apartment, my daughter's, my sister's ... Everything burned down. Even my poor cat is gone. I don't know if she burned or not.'

The incident has been a devastating blow for local residents, as five families lived at a single address in the private housing sector. July 7 was declared a day of mourning in Vyshneve. Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces stated that the targeted facility was not under their control. President Zelenskyy has ordered the Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence agencies to investigate the circumstances of the secondary explosion that followed the attack.

Recovery After the Tragedy

Cleanup and recovery efforts are ongoing as residents struggle to cope with the aftermath. Vasyl Myshynskyi also shared his evacuation experience:

'We jumped into the car and drove off, firefighters were already running toward the scene. I wanted to pick up my daughter and sister, but they had already run off on their own. I forgot my phone and had no way to contact anyone.' Vasyl Myshynskyi

This tragedy has left a deep scar on the hearts of Vyshneve's residents, who are now trying to rebuild their lives after the horrific event.

The attack underscores the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine, which continues to inflict immense suffering on civilians. Vyshneve, like many other towns, is grappling with the war's consequences that threaten the safety and well-being of its people. The situation demands urgent action from state authorities to ensure security, restore infrastructure, and support affected families during this difficult time.

The recent missile attack on Vyshneve has resulted in unprecedented destruction, marking one of the most devastating incidents since the onset of the conflict.
