According to МВС: Recently, residents of the Kherson region have been facing problems due to fraudsters who have already managed to extort about 300 thousand hryvnias. Among the most common types of fraud are 'calls from bank employees' and 'application for financial assistance.'

One such case is 'Card Blocking.' A woman received a phone call, was informed that her account was being blocked, and was tricked out of 25,000 hryvnias, posing as bank employees. Another victim, who recognized the 'Improved Conditions' scheme, lost 120,000 hryvnias by activating new service conditions at the instructions of the fraudsters.

How to protect yourself from fraud

Remember that a bank or any financial institution will never ask for personal information or passwords over the phone. If you receive a suspicious call, immediately report it to the police at 102 or 112. Also, timely inform your relatives and friends about possible types of fraud to protect them from scammers.

In the Kherson region, cases have been registered where fraudsters have extorted nearly 300 thousand hryvnias from local residents through various manipulations, such as calls from bank employees or promises of financial assistance. The police advise being cautious and never disclosing personal data or passwords over the phone, as well as immediately notifying law enforcement in case of suspicious situations.
