Lviv received new Schindler Be 4/8 trams
LKP Lviv Electric Transport reported that such trams are already used on route 9. The trams are distinguished by their length of 26 meters, capacity, and convenience for various groups of passengers. In particular, boarding for people with reduced mobility is facilitated through the third door. Municipal services request passengers to pay attention to this and inform others if necessary.
Main characteristics of the trams:
- Length – 26 meters
- 58 seating places
- 147 standing places.
Lviv has already received a total of 19 three-section and 7 two-section trams of this model. Six trams are operating on route No. 9, and about 20 drivers have completed training to operate this type of transport.
Cooperation with Switzerland and updating the tram fleet
The supply of trams is part of a program supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO. The initiative includes the free transfer of 23 Schindler Be 4/8 trams and 10 donor wagons for spare parts. Previously, Lviv also received 11 Vevey trams from Bern.
The municipal enterprise notes that the new shipments allow for a systematic update of the electric transport, making it more capacious, comfortable, and accessible for all passengers.
Earlier we reported that three low-floor buses were put into operation in the streets of Lviv, which will make transportation around the city more convenient for passengers with disabilities, parents with strollers, and elderly people.
