Almost 10 billion UAH for the army: how the National Bank helps the Ukrainian military

As of September 1, 2025, the balance of funds in the special account opened by the National Bank of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, amounted to over 5 billion UAH. In the past month, more than 204.5 million UAH was received in the special account.

According to the press service of the National Bank, a total of over 83.9 billion UAH equivalent has been received in the special account since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The National Bank noted that funds were transferred by both citizens and businesses in Ukraine, as well as the international community (including from the USA, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, France, Canada, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, and many other countries).

In particular, from abroad in foreign currency (US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Canadian dollars, renminbi, yen, Swiss francs, zlotys, Australian dollars), almost 62.5 billion UAH equivalent has been received.

Overall, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the National Bank has transferred almost 78.8 billion UAH for defense needs. In August 2025, nearly 9.8 billion UAH was transferred. In particular:

• for the needs of the National Guard of Ukraine – over 1,649 million UAH;
• for the needs of the National Police of Ukraine – 1,650 million UAH;
• for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine – over 39,332 million UAH (August 1, 2025 – almost 106.9 million UAH; August 4, 2025 – 6,312 million UAH);
• for the needs of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine – 999.5 million UAH;
• for the needs of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine – over 8,200 million UAH (August 25, 2025 – over 8 million UAH of previously unused funds was returned);
• for the needs of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine – over 156.2 million UAH;
• for the needs of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine – almost 100.9 million UAH;
• for the needs of the State Special Transport Service – over 233 million UAH;
• for the needs of the Security Service of Ukraine – almost 663.6 million UAH (August 5, 2025 – almost 90.2 million UAH);
• for the needs of military units – over 286.9 million UAH;
• for the needs of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine – over 1,404 million UAH;
• for the needs of the Defense Procurement Agency – over 23,586 million UAH (August 18, 2025 – 3,192 million UAH);
• for the needs of the defense work of regional military administrations – over 502.5 million UAH (August 29, 2025 – 50 million UAH).
