Three Players Leave Manchester United

According to Главком: Manchester United has officially confirmed that Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, and Jadon Sancho will leave the club as free agents. The club chose not to offer new contracts, and all three players will depart Old Trafford when their agreements expire on June 30. The total investment made by the club in these players reached €170.65 million.

Casemiro, who joined Manchester United in the summer, made 160 appearances for the team and won both the FA Cup and the League Cup. Jadon Sancho also arrived at Manchester United ahead of the 2021/22 season, but his time with the club included loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. During the 2025/26 campaign, Sancho played 39 matches for Aston Villa, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Retirements and New Directions

In addition, Kasper Schmeichel has announced his retirement due to health issues, a decision made after consulting with specialists. Meanwhile, Jonjo Shelvey has ended his playing career and immediately taken over as head coach of Arabian Falcons in the United Arab Emirates, the last club he played for. These player movements signal a new phase in Manchester United’s development.

The departure of these players could significantly impact the club’s future strategy, as Manchester United may look to strengthen its squad to compete for trophies again. Amid these roster changes, the club is likely to focus on rebuilding, which could involve acquiring new talent in the transfer market. This also sends a clear message to fans about the club’s intentions for upcoming seasons. The decisions by Kasper Schmeichel and Jonjo Shelvey further highlight shifts in football culture and team structures overall.

As Manchester United navigates this transitional phase, the club's management is also making strategic decisions regarding player contracts. Recently, they have opted to extend the contract of 40-year-old goalkeeper Tom Heaton, signaling their intention to maintain experienced leadership within the squad. This move reflects a balance between bringing in new talent and retaining seasoned players during this critical period of rebuilding.
