The offensive unfolded between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m., during which air defense systems neutralized 249 drones across 17 municipal districts. One notable strike occurred near Orekhovy Boulevard in southern Moscow, where a drone crashed into a building. Moscow’s mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, confirmed damage at the oil refinery but reported no injuries there. He emphasized that the attack’s objective was to disrupt the upcoming elections to Russia’s State Duma.

Damage and Casualties in Moscow Region

The Moscow region sustained severe impacts from the drone strikes. In the Ramensky district, the roof of a 21-story apartment complex caught fire after a drone hit, forcing the evacuation of 400 residents and damaging 20 vehicles. In the village of Sofyino, a drone struck a three-story apartment building, killing a 44-year-old woman and injuring five others, followed by a warehouse fire in the area.

In the Orekhovo-Zuyevo district, an elderly man died when his private home was set ablaze following an attack. The Leninsky district reported one injury, while in Kotelniki, a drone struck a residential building in the Novi Kotelniki neighborhood, causing a fire. Other private residences in Ramensky, Kolomna, and Yegoryevsk were damaged, with fires also breaking out in multi-story buildings in Leninsky, Lyubertsy, and Lytkarino districts.

Andrey Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow region, confirmed that the widespread drone attack was still ongoing, with reports of damage to private homes and fires in apartment buildings across several municipalities. The impact zone likely included the Sofyino technopark area near Moscow, while a major fire occurred in Kapotnya, home to the Moscow oil refinery.

This nighttime drone offensive inflicted extensive destruction and human loss as air defenses continue to counter the threat.
