Mass protests have changed tourists' attitudes towards Spain
According to glavcom.ua: According to the report, tourism in Spain, which is the second largest European tourist destination, will grow slower due to economic and geopolitical uncertainties, which is reflected in travel demand. Protests by locals against mass tourism have also affected travelers' desire to visit the country. This information was published by the publication 'Glavkom' citing Bloomberg.
According to the tourist business group Exceltur, the tourism industry in Spain is expected to grow by 3.3% in 2025, which is lower than the previously forecasted 4% in April. Exceltur Vice President Oscar Perelli emphasized that the year will be good, but not as good as expected.
Spain topped the list of the most popular European destinations by the number of nights spent in tourist accommodations, according to Eurostat data. However, the burden on regions is increasing due to traffic congestion and rising housing prices, which is associated with an increase in the number of permanent residents in tourist areas and the presence of short-term rental properties.
Ukrainians may watch the developments in tourism in Spain with concern, as this country has always been a popular vacation destination. Increasing uncertainty and local protests may affect the travels of Ukrainians and other tourists to this beautiful country.
