The collision took place on the Warsaw Highway (M-07 road). According to the Kyiv region police press service, the driver of a DAF truck rear-ended several vehicles ahead-including a Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Transporter, Chevrolet Epica, and Renault Master-triggering a chain reaction.

The impact pushed the struck cars into oncoming traffic, where they collided with another DAF truck traveling in the opposite direction.
