Payment Operations at Wildberries Disrupted by Large-Scale Cyberattack
Cyberattack Hits Wildberries
According to ХВИЛЯ: Wildberries, a Russian online marketplace, was struck by a major cyberattack on August 10-11, 2026, with the Cyber Corps community claiming responsibility. The incident took down the company's main remote customer-service channel and partially destabilized its payment infrastructure. Users reported widespread problems, especially difficulties completing financial transactions. Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense said Wildberries plays a significant part in the aggressor's logistics and in financing the war against Ukraine.
Effects of the Attack
The cyberattack also put additional strain on Wildberries' contact centers. The company has been dealing with physical strikes on its warehouses and sorting centers for several months, according to the HUR. Ukrainian military intelligence said the cyber operation reinforced the impact of kinetic attacks by Ukraine's defense forces on Wildberries warehouses, causing yet another round of major losses for a business that sustains the aggressor's economy and its criminal war effort.
"Mass complaints have been recorded, including from customers who could not complete financial transactions," the HUR said.
The HUR added that "the fight for Ukraine's freedom continues in cyberspace!" Earlier, drones hit an oil refinery and a Wildberries warehouse in Bashkortostan. The Ukrainian outlet Khvylya also published a separate investigation into the marketplace's hub near Voronezh.
This cyberattack is part of a wider Ukrainian strategy against Russian aggression that blends physical and cyber operations. Destabilizing the logistics and financial channels that support the aggressor demonstrates that the war is being waged beyond the battlefield as well, potentially weakening Russia's ability to sustain its military campaign. For English-speaking audiences, the incident highlights how commercial infrastructure can become a central target in modern hybrid warfare.
The ongoing conflict has not only led to cyber disruptions but has also resulted in significant physical damage to Wildberries' infrastructure. Recent reports indicate that Ukrainian strikes have severely impacted a substantial portion of the company's warehouses, further complicating its operational challenges. This multifaceted approach demonstrates the strategic efforts to undermine the logistics supporting the aggressor's economy.
