According to Главком: A 14-year-old boy in Kyiv was left alone for two weeks by his mother, suffering from a broken leg and unable to move or care for his basic needs. According to law enforcement, his 32-year-old mother was fully aware of her son's helpless condition but continued with her own affairs and did not return home. The boy's 78-year-old great-grandmother was unable to provide care due to her own health issues. Consequently, the boy went without proper care for a fortnight, a situation that ultimately led to his hospitalization. At the hospital, he was diagnosed with anorexia and severe internal organ disorders, requiring urgent medical intervention.

Legal Repercussions

Following the boy's hospitalization, the mother was stripped of her parental rights, and the child was adopted by another family. The mother has also been formally notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for willful abandonment. This article carries a potential penalty of up to two years of imprisonment, and the case is now proceeding to court.
