According to Главком: The media service Megogo has announced it will be the official and exclusive broadcaster of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for Ukrainian audiences. Every single match of the tournament will be streamed solely on the Megogo platform. This edition of the World Cup will be historic, as it will be the first to feature 48 national teams. The event will be hosted across three nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

All commentary will be provided in Ukrainian, ensuring a convenient viewing experience for domestic fans. Megogo has also announced plans for over 90 supplementary studio shows, offering supporters additional insights and analysis during the broadcasts. Access to the matches will be available through the Sport and Megopack subscription tiers on the OTT platform. Furthermore, a selection of key matches will be broadcast for free on the Megogo Sport TV channel, which will air one match per tournament game day.

Broadcast Schedule and Key Matches

The free-to-air coverage on Megogo Sport is guaranteed to include:

  • The opening match
  • Two quarter-finals
  • Both semi-finals
  • The third-place play-off
  • The final

The opening match will take place on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, featuring the national teams of Mexico and South Africa. The tournament final is scheduled for July 19, 2026, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.

The 2026 World Cup is set to be a massive event, with a total of 104 matches to be played. Of these, 72 matches will occur during the group stage across twelve groups. UEFA has qualified 16 national teams for the tournament, while the allocation from other confederations is as follows:

  • 10 teams from Africa
  • 9 from Asia
  • 6 each from South America and North/Central America & the Caribbean
  • 1 team from Oceania (New Zealand)

Unfortunately, the Ukrainian national team failed to qualify for the championship, losing their qualification play-off semi-final to Sweden with a score of 1:3. However, the Ukrainian squad is already preparing for a new competition-the Nations League-where they will begin their campaign with an away match against Hungary on September 25. For the 2026/27 Nations League season, Ukraine has been placed in Group B2, where they will face Hungary, Georgia, and Northern Ireland.

Securing the official broadcast rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup underscores the significance of this global sporting event for Ukraine.

Despite the national team's absence from the tournament, the provision of native-language commentary and extensive analytical coverage will allow Ukrainian fans to actively engage with the pinnacle of world football. This comprehensive broadcast package could help boost the sport's popularity within the country and attract a new generation of supporters.

As anticipation builds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, fans in Ukraine can also catch the national team's crucial playoff matches, such as the upcoming clash against Sweden.
