Humanitarian Operation in Oleshky

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, recently addressed the outcomes of a humanitarian operation in the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky. This mission was made possible by a ceasefire agreement signed on October 23, 2026, between Russia and Ukraine, aimed at facilitating aid delivery and civilian evacuation. Initiated in September 2026, the operation focused on supporting the residents of Oleshky amidst ongoing tensions.

Melania Trump stated: 'Russia and Ukraine selected me to act as a mediator to establish a ceasefire in Oleshky and the Kherson region. Our shared objective is to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Oleshky and help civilians evacuate safely.'

She emphasized that 'freedom can only exist where fear is absent. A free world is one where people live with dignity.'

The negotiation teams were led by Dmytro Lubinets on the Ukrainian side and Yana Lantratova representing Russia. The ceasefire in Oleshky was implemented on October 27, 2026, marking a critical milestone for the humanitarian effort. By October 29, routes were cleared of mines and humanitarian convoys were established to ensure safe passage.

Evacuation Details

On October 31, 2026, Ukrainian civilians from Oleshky crossed into Ukrainian territory via the Chernihiv region. Nearly 800 people were successfully evacuated, spanning all age groups-the eldest evacuee was 94 years old, and the youngest just over one year old. Additionally, the mission enabled the rescue of more than 60 animals, mainly dogs and cats.

As a token of recognition, Dmytro Lubinets awarded Melania Trump the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, by decree of President Zelensky. The First Lady was actively involved throughout every phase of the operation, demonstrating her commitment to the humanitarian cause. David Arakhamia, representing Ukraine during a meeting with Melania Trump at the White House, remarked, 'In Kherson region and Oleshky, people were finally able to walk the streets, visit their damaged homes, and collect their belongings.'

This humanitarian mission highlights the crucial role international cooperation plays in addressing crises caused by armed conflict. The successful evacuation of a large number of civilians and animals underscores the importance of aid efforts during wartime. Notably, the ceasefire agreement between the conflicting parties was fundamental in enabling these life-saving operations.

As the humanitarian operation in Oleshky progresses, the successful clearance of minefields has paved the way for further aid initiatives. This development is crucial for ensuring the safety of future humanitarian convoys.
