Employer Rankings for Veterans

According to Главком: Metinvest has secured the third position in a ranking of the best employers for veterans, compiled by the publication Delo.ua. The top five also includes Naftogaz, Ukrzaliznytsia, MHP, and DTEK. This ranking is based on an analysis of practices among Ukraine’s largest employers, highlighting their commitment to veteran support.

As of early 2026, Metinvest employs approximately 50,000 people, of whom 1,022 are veterans. The company achieved a score of 94.83 out of a possible 100 across various criteria, reflecting the effectiveness of its veteran support policies. Since 2023, Metinvest has operated a comprehensive veteran reintegration program that includes:

  • medical rehabilitation
  • psychological rehabilitation
  • physical rehabilitation
  • social adaptation
  • training
  • legal assistance
  • financial support

The reintegration system also offers a range of services for demobilized employees and their families. These include:

  • additional medical check-ups
  • psychological support
  • 'Pobratym' group meetings
  • swimming-based rehabilitation
  • extended 'Veteran' health insurance
  • legal consultations
  • financial aid related to mobilization and war consequences

Social Adaptation for Veterans

To facilitate social adaptation, Metinvest employs specialists who organize family and sporting events, as well as recreational activities for children. The company supports veteran communities and hosts meetings on the 'Spilkuy. Veteran' platform. Additionally, Vysh Metinvest Polytechnic offers veterans preferential admission to engineering programs, accepting them without exams and relying solely on interview results.

Since the war began on February 24, 2022, Rinat Akhmetov’s company has invested over 28 billion hryvnias. Metinvest is also one of the largest employers of veterans, accounting for nearly one-third of all veterans who have returned to work at large business enterprises. These efforts underscore the importance of veteran support in the current environment and contribute to their successful reintegration into society.

The Delo.ua ranking, in which Metinvest placed third, reflects the growing attention Ukrainian companies are paying to social initiatives, particularly veteran support. In the context of the ongoing war and its aftermath, such efforts are becoming especially critical for social stability and recovery. Collaboration with veteran communities and the provision of professional assistance can significantly ease veterans’ transition to civilian life and ensure their integration into the workplace.

In addition to Metinvest's notable achievements, other companies are also recognized for their commitment to supporting veterans. For instance, DTEK has recently been acknowledged as one of the top employers for veterans, showcasing a broader trend among leading Ukrainian firms to enhance veteran reintegration and support initiatives. This highlights the growing importance of veteran-friendly policies in the corporate sector.
