A new water supply has started operating in Mykolaiv: the city will receive fresh water in just two weeks
A new main water supply has started operating in Mykolaiv, which will soon begin supplying fresh water to the city.
According to the Government Portal, 8.7 billion UAH has been allocated from the state budget for the construction of the water intake system from the Southern Bug River in 2024.
'The project was successfully reduced from the initial cost of 6.5 billion UAH thanks to the Recovery Agency. The saved funds are being directed to build water supplies in other regions,' emphasized the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Sviridenko.
Construction work began in January 2025, and successful testing of the water supply took place in August. Water has already started being supplied to the reservoir of the water supply company, and in two weeks, fresh water will completely replace salty water in the city's systems.
The new water supply will provide 120 thousand cubic meters of water per day for households and 50 thousand cubic meters for irrigating agricultural lands.
'Our goal is uninterrupted water supply in all Ukrainian communities. To scale this work, the government approved a list of new construction, reconstruction, and major repair projects for water supply systems and networks in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Poltava regions,' the Prime Minister emphasized.
A brief summary adds more context to the news about the launch of the new main water supply in Mykolaiv. The new system will provide the city with fresh water and serve as a model for similar projects in various regions of Ukraine.
