The Ministry of Energy reported that with the support of the Ukrainian-Danish Energy Partnership Program (UDEP), the second edition of the Catalog of Critical Technologies for Ukraine's energy sector has been prepared. The first edition was published in February 2024.

The catalog contains an updated list of data on key energy generation technologies relevant to the current critical situation in Ukraine's energy system. Its aim is to help stakeholders at various levels determine priorities in choosing electricity and heat generation technologies, the structure of recovery, and attracting investment for stable winter seasons.

'Unlike the first edition, the updated document contains an additional criterion - the time to restore operation after damage, which is particularly relevant in the context of military threats. In addition, the second edition includes sections describing initiatives that promote faster implementation of solutions and increase the resilience of the energy system.

The catalog also contains information about the cost and technical characteristics of energy generation technologies. The assessment of technologies is based on several criteria, including power in winter, implementation speed, technology resilience, and electricity cost. It is clarified that the assessment methodology has been improved based on consultations with experts.
