Ministry of Defense presents a new classification system for demining technologies: what has changed

Presentation of the updated classification system for anti-mine activities

According to Мін. Оборони: The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine presented an updated classification system for anti-mine activities at the HITS25 Summit held in Krakow. This new classification system aims to improve the demining processes in the country.

Categories of demining means

The updated system includes several categories of demining means:

• Land
• Underwater
• Aerial
• Auxiliary
• Specialized

The development of the system was carried out by the Main Department of Anti-Mine Activities, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety. Currently, this system is already being used in testing processes, technical assessment, and integration of innovations into the national anti-mine activities system.

This initiative is an important step in increasing the efficiency of demining in Ukraine, which is especially relevant in the context of prolonged conflict. The updated classification system can significantly improve coordination between different units engaged in anti-mine activities, as well as ensure the integration of the latest technologies in this field, which, in turn, can reduce risks to the civilian population.
