Ministry of Social Policy is changing its approach to support IDPs: what awaits the displaced

An interesting forum "Where protection begins and ends" took place in Kyiv, organized by the Charitable Foundation Right to Protection with the support of UNHCR. At the event, Tetiana Kirienko, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, noted that social policy must be a support system that works for each person at all stages of their journey.

Activities of the Ministry of Social Policy

The Ministry of Social Policy cooperates with partners to avoid duplication of programs and provide comprehensive support to vulnerable population groups. Tetiana Kirienko emphasized the importance of supporting people in temporary living places and helping them find more sustainable solutions through work, housing programs, and necessary services.

• Coordination of state, community, and international donor programs;
• Keeping accurate records and monitoring the needs of vulnerable groups;
• Avoiding double aid and situations where a person is left without support;
• Development of systemic social support — from evacuation to full integration into the community.

Tetiana Kirienko thanked the NGOs that actively operate in frontline communities and evacuation points, expressing gratitude for their crucial role in creating an effective protection system for those affected by the war.

Participation in the forum and discussions on social protection issues are very important steps in improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups and developing a sustainable support system in society.
