Drone Strikes Target Moscow Again: Details on the Latest Assault

According to Главком: Moscow faced another drone attack in February 2024, causing alarm among residents. On the evening of February 26, powerful explosions were heard in the Moscow region as several dozen drones flew toward the capital. Russian authorities reported that over 23 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down before reaching the city, with emergency services working at crash sites where debris fell. These incidents are part of a broader pattern of drone warfare that has escalated since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

This latest strike continues a series of attacks that began on February 15, when unidentified drones targeted Moscow, leading to airport closures and falling debris. Subsequently, on February 22, the city was again a target, resulting in the temporary suspension of all Moscow airport operations.

Sergei Sobyanin, Moscow's mayor, emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting that dozens of drones were on course for the capital.

Earlier, on the night of February 12, explosions were reported in the city of Michurinsk in the Tambov region, sparking a fire at the 'Progress' plant, a strategic defense enterprise. This facility has now been targeted twice.

The Growing Threat of Drone Warfare

These events highlight an increasing threat from drone attacks in the region, with potential serious consequences for security and stability. The intensification of such strikes may indicate evolving tactics in armed conflicts and a possible escalation of regional tensions. The ability of drones to penetrate deep into Russian airspace challenges traditional defense systems.

The future responses of the government and security forces to these threats will be crucial for maintaining public order and national security.
