Trump-Linked Festival Faces Mass Artist Boycott as Headliners Drop Out
Performers Cancel Appearances at the Great American Fair
According to РБК-Україна — Lite: A growing number of musicians are withdrawing from the Great American Fair, scheduled to run in Washington, D.C., from June 25 to July 10, 2026. U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the departing artists on his Truth Social platform, branding himself as the world's number one. Among those who have pulled out are:
- country singer Martina McBride
- rocker Bret Michaels
- rapper Young MC
- funk band The Commodores
However, performers Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice remain on the lineup.
Artists Voice Concerns Over the Event
Bret Michaels expressed worries about the safety of his fans and crew, stating:
“Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has turned into something far more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.” - Bret Michaels
Martina McBride also voiced dissatisfaction, claiming the event was misleading and that instead of a nonpartisan platform, artists encountered political campaigning.
The Great American Fair will span 16 days and is funded through a public-private partnership involving Palantir, Oracle, and Lockheed Martin. Democrats are demanding a clear accounting of federal funds used, and rumors suggest donors were promised access to the president in exchange for a one-million-dollar contribution. In addition to musical acts, the event will feature:
- UFC fights on the White House lawn
- IndyCar races through the capital's streets
- a massive Ferris wheel
- government exhibitions
- special screenings of the film 'National Treasure'
The wave of cancellations by high-profile artists at the Great American Fair may signal escalating political tensions surrounding the event. Musicians' remarks about safety and political advocacy suggest that what was intended as a celebration could become a flashpoint for controversy. This could tarnish the fair's reputation and hinder its ability to attract future performers.
