У новому українському плані передбачено введення суворих заходів для повторних порушників правил дорожнього руху.

Tougher Penalties for Traffic Rule Breaches

According to Главком: Ukraine’s Interior Ministry is drafting a new measure to crack down on drivers who repeatedly violate traffic laws. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko announced that the document will be ready within days. Under the proposed system, violations will be automatically tracked by number and severity. Potential penalties include license suspension, driving restrictions, or mandatory retesting.

Ihor Klymenko: 'Penalties must always exist, and they must be clear to people.'

Separately, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko stated that the government is preparing a package of measures aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic accidents. These efforts come in the wake of a high-profile crash in Kyiv, where a driver speeding out of control plowed into an underground pedestrian crossing. The Shevchenkivskyi District Court has since ordered a preventive measure for the driver of a Mercedes-Benz involved in the fatal accident that killed four people.

New Rules for Electric Scooters

At the same time, two bills concerning electric scooters have been registered in the Verkhovna Rada. Draft law No. 15284, 'On the specifics of using small electric vehicles in Ukraine,' and draft law No. 15283, which regulates administrative liability for violations of small electric vehicle rules, aim to establish a legal framework for this mode of transport. These initiatives show the government’s consistent efforts to improve road safety and regulate emerging vehicle types in Ukraine.

These moves reflect the Ukrainian authorities’ push to cut down on road accidents and protect all road users, especially after recent deadly crashes. Introducing new rules and monitoring mechanisms could significantly change driver behavior and overall road conditions, particularly as electric scooters and other new transport options grow in popularity. The legislative efforts also seek to reduce the legal gray area surrounding the use of small electric vehicles in Ukraine.

In addition to the proposed measures for traffic violators, the government is also addressing the burgeoning use of electric scooters on Ukrainian roads. Recent legislative initiatives aim to create a comprehensive legal framework for these vehicles, underscoring the authorities' commitment to enhancing road safety.
