Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not guarantee safety for Hasidim in Uman due to the war

According to МЗС: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on Hasidic pilgrims planning to travel to Uman for Rosh Hashanah to consider that due to the ongoing aggression of Russia against Ukraine, it is impossible to guarantee the full safety of foreign citizens on the territory of the country. Ukraine is currently under martial law, which requires special attention from those intending to visit this city.

Conditions of Martial Law

Martial law entails restrictions on freedom of movement, the imposition of curfews, enhanced patrols, and bans on mass events and gatherings. Failure to adhere to these restrictions may result in the application of coercive measures. Furthermore, in Uman, there is a lack of sufficient civil protection facilities to shelter pilgrims, as well as an inadequate number of medical personnel and medical institutions.

Given the congestion of ground transportation connections with Ukraine, delays in transportation may occur due to shelling of transport infrastructure. Considering these factors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine advises pilgrims to carefully weigh the risks before planning their visit.
