According to Главком: Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a heightened security alert for its citizens in Mexico, urging maximum vigilance due to an ongoing military operation in the country. The Embassy of Ukraine in Mexico reports a deteriorating security situation, particularly in the states of Jalisco, Michoacán, and Guanajuato.

This advisory follows recent events linked to a military operation that resulted in the death of CJNG cartel leader Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known as El Mencho. In response, armed individuals have blocked roads in several regions of the country and set vehicles on fire. Mexico has long faced significant challenges from powerful drug cartels, and military actions can trigger violent reprisals.

Guidance for Citizens

The Embassy of Ukraine in Mexico has provided the following recommendations:

• Remain calm and monitor official communications from local authorities.
• Comply with all instructions from security forces in Jalisco, Michoacán, and Guanajuato.
• Avoid spreading unverified information.
• Refrain from intercity travel, especially at night.

In case of emergencies threatening health or life, Ukraine's MFA advises contacting the Consular Department via WhatsApp or Viber at (+52) 55 7878 0708.
