COP30: Ukraine presented ambitious goals for emission reduction

Економіки: At the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), held from November 10 to 21 in Brazil, the Ukrainian pavilion became a venue for over 30 events involving government officials, diplomats, scientists, business representatives, and civil society.

On behalf of the Minister of Economy, Ecology, and Agriculture of Ukraine, Oleksiy Sobolev, the national statement was delivered by Deputy Minister Pavlo Kartashov - a mandatory and responsible speech at the conference. In his speech, Pavlo Kartashov emphasized that the environment in Ukraine is suffering due to Russian aggression.

  • The second Nationally Determined Contribution was adopted, committing to reduce emissions by more than 65% by 2035.
  • A Biennial Transparency Report was presented under the Paris Agreement.
  • A Long-term Low-Carbon Development Strategy was introduced, which will become an important document for the green transition in Ukraine.

Pavlo Kartashov held about 20 bilateral meetings with representatives of the governments of the EU, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, and international organizations. European partners noted the progress made by Ukraine in the field of climate actions.
