According to glavcom.ua: One of the prosecutors in Ukraine lost his position due to refusal to undergo a medical examination and receiving disability without appropriate checks. The commission stated that such actions discredit law enforcement agencies and violate the ethical standards of prosecutor's employees.
“His unwillingness to undergo a medical examination within the framework of the pre-trial investigation to verify the legality of establishing his II group disability compromised him as a representative of the state and undermined trust in the prosecution authorities as a whole,” it is noted in the materials of the disciplinary complaint.
The prosecutor in his defense stated that calls for medical examinations were merely recommendatory in nature and not legally mandatory. However, such concessions by a senior official require accountability and may affect the reputation of the entire prosecution service.
