Twin Brothers Killed in Action

According to Главком: On March 17, 2026, twin brothers Serhii and Oleksandr Horobtsi were killed while on a combat mission near the settlement of Bruskinske in the Kherson region. Both soldiers, serving in the Lastivka unit of the unmanned systems battalion of the 11th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, died as a result of a direct hit by a Russian drone. The use of drones has become a grimly common feature of the battlefield in this conflict.

Their Lives and Service

Serhii and Oleksandr Horobtsi were born on December 28, 1994, in the village of Khazhyn, Zhytomyr region. Following the example of their older brother, Yurii, who is also a serviceman, they enlisted to defend their country at the start of the full-scale invasion. Their funeral was held on April 5, Palm Sunday, in their home village.

Oleksandr is survived by his wife, Alina, and their two children:

  • daughter Margaryta, aged seven;
  • son Artur, aged ten months.

Serhii is survived by his wife, Tetiana, and their three daughters:

  • Milana, aged eight;
  • Solomiia, aged two;
  • Sofiia, aged eleven months.

The news of this tragedy was reported by the publication Hlavkom, citing the Semenivka community.

The deaths of the Horobtsi brothers underscore the immense human cost of the ongoing war for Ukraine. They not only lost their lives but left behind young families who must now face life without their fathers and husbands. This incident serves as another stark reminder of the daily sacrifices made by Ukrainian defenders.
