On the night of August 24, drones attacked the Kursk region. According to local channels, the target was the city of Kurchatov, reports 'Glavkom'.

According to the report, after the drone attack, a fire broke out at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in Kurchatov. The station's press service reported that rescuers are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the incident. It was noted that the transformer block, which does not belong to the nuclear power plant, caught fire, and it was unloaded by 30%.

Situation in the region

Local media report that electricity supply in the city is operating as usual. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the occupiers suffered significant losses in killed and wounded during the operation in the Kursk direction, which was prepared by only three to four people. On the evening of August 23, drone attacks were recorded in the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, and the Leningrad region. Governors of the regions reported the downing of several drones in various areas.

In the near future, further developments in the Kursk region are expected following the drone attacks and the fire at the nuclear power plant.
