Hazardous Munitions Removed in Lviv Region

According to ДСНС: Ordnance disposal specialists from the Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Center 'Lviv' of Ukraine's State Emergency Service have recovered and destroyed a cache of explosives from World War II. The collection consisted of an F-1 hand grenade, 260 rounds of small-arms ammunition, and two 76-mm artillery shells. The items were found in Zolochiv district, Lviv district, and in the city of Lviv itself. Such wartime remnants regularly surface in this part of Ukraine, making these clearance operations an ongoing safety priority.

Where the Dangerous Items Turned Up

The grenade and ammunition rounds were uncovered during field excavation work near the village of Snovychi. One artillery shell was discovered by someone walking through woods near Hlynsk village, and the other similar shell emerged in Lviv under comparable circumstances. After retrieval, specialists destroyed all of the ordnance in line with standard operating procedures.
