This is notable because red deer used to thrive across southern Ukraine, but their numbers were driven down by uncontrolled hunting and shrinking natural habitats. For decades, this part of Bessarabia had no recorded red deer sightings. Red deer are among Europe's largest wild mammals, making their reappearance in this area especially significant.

For the region, the discovery carries particular weight, as the animals were documented in more than one spot. In response, game wardens have stepped up territory protection, set up extra patrols, and are holding awareness talks with residents. The public is urged:
