In Poltava region, Akhmetov is building the largest wind farm in Europe for 1.2 billion euros

A large wind farm with a capacity of 650 MW is planned to be built in the Poltava region, which could become the largest in Europe. The project is being implemented by Rinat Akhmetov, and the investment volume is estimated at approximately 1.2 billion euros. This is reported by Trukha.

Wind farm in Poltava region: parameters and significance of the project

The new power plant will be built in the Left Bank region, an area with a shortage of electricity. A significant part of the generating capacities there was destroyed due to Russian attacks.

Key characteristics of the project:

• capacity – 650 MW;

• investment – approximately €1.2 billion;

• location – Poltava region.

It is expected that the facility will become the largest wind power plant in Europe by installed capacity.

Energy of Ukraine: why this is important for the region

The construction of the wind farm is expected to strengthen the energy system in the area where generation has been severely affected by shelling. The new capacities may partially compensate for losses and stabilize electricity supply.

The development of renewable energy also allows to:

• reduce dependence on traditional sources;

• enhance energy security;

• attract significant investments in infrastructure.
