Kyiv's Darnytsia Station Now Hosts 'Resilience Wagons' Offering Warmth, Work, and Meals
Autonomous 'Resilience Wagons' Deployed at Darnytsia Railway Station
According to Главком: In response to heating outages affecting parts of the Darnytsia district following a hostile attack, two autonomous 'Resilience Wagons' have begun operating at Kyiv's Darnytsia railway station. This critical initiative, launched by JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, was announced by Oleksandr Kovtunov, head of the Darnytsia District State Administration. These facilities provide a vital lifeline for residents impacted by the ongoing energy crisis and war.
Each wagon can accommodate up to 50 people at once, offering a comfortable space for warmth, work, and rest. A dedicated kitchen train will prepare up to 3,000 hot meals daily, with the first batch already delivered to social services for distribution to those in need.
“This is substantial support for those who need it most right now.” - Oleksandr Kovtunov
Project Implementation and Partners
The project was realized through collaboration with international partners, including:
- All Hands and Hearts
- World Central Kitchen

- Hachiko Foundation
Meal provision is supported by the Howard Buffett Foundation. The Resilience Wagons are also equipped with Starlink for uninterrupted internet, and visitors can charge phones and laptops. A dedicated children's area offers books and cartoons, while separate compartments are available for pet owners. The wagons operate daily from 08:00 to 20:00 at Darnytsia railway station.
The launch of these autonomous wagons marks a significant step in supporting Kyiv residents during the war-induced energy crisis. This initiative highlights the combined efforts of the state and international organizations to provide comprehensive humanitarian aid. By offering not just shelter but also hot food, connectivity, and essential services, this infrastructure delivers crucial comfort and support during an exceptionally difficult time.
