Fatal Crash on Highway N-14 in Kirovohrad Region

According to Главком: A head-on collision between a truck and a bus on February 21 resulted in the deaths of both drivers. The crash occurred at the 34-kilometer mark of the 'Oleksandrivka – Kropyvnytskyi – Mykolaiv' highway in the Kirovohrad region. The vehicles involved were a Volvo FN truck with a semi-trailer and a Setra S 431D bus. One bus passenger sustained injuries and was hospitalized. Road safety remains a significant challenge across Ukraine's extensive highway network.

According to the Kirovohrad Regional Police press service, the truck driver crossed into the oncoming lane, causing the collision. The impact sparked a fire that completely destroyed the truck. A criminal case has been initiated under the article 'violation of traffic safety rules resulting in the death of several persons.'

Accidents Involving Commercial Trucks in Ukraine

This is not an isolated incident involving heavy goods vehicles in Ukraine. Earlier, near the village of Stari Bezradychi, a crash between two trucks led to the hospitalization of one passenger. On February 19, near the village of Tucha in the Vinnytsia district, another accident involving MAN and DAF trucks resulted in the hospitalization of the 68-year-old DAF driver; the 48-year-old MAN driver later died in the hospital.

The high rate of accidents involving commercial trucks on Ukrainian roads is a growing concern for both drivers and law enforcement. Authorities and relevant services are urged to implement measures to improve traffic safety, particularly on high-traffic routes. Analyzing the causes and consequences of such crashes is essential for developing new road safety strategies.
