Extra Tourist Bus Route Launched

According to Главком: A new corridor for tourist buses has been introduced at the Ukraine-Romania border, operating through the Diakivtsi–Rakovets checkpoint. This measure comes in response to a surge in passenger traffic during the summer months, which has placed additional strain on border crossings in the Chernivtsi region. The route is exclusively for departures from Ukraine and will remain operational until the end of the summer tourist season.

Tourist buses of all sizes are permitted to use this designated checkpoint. Drivers must pre-register in the E-Cherha (electronic queue) system and arrive at the checkpoint at their scheduled time. On weekdays, between 113,000 and 118,000 people cross the border daily, while on weekends, the number climbs to 130,000–136,000. Poland remains the busiest direction, accounting for roughly half of all passenger traffic.

Ukraine-Romania Route Gains Popularity

The Ukraine-Romania corridor is one of the most favored destinations for Ukrainians during summer travel. Border officials recommend planning trips on weekdays and opting for morning hours, when queues at checkpoints are shortest. The introduction of this additional route aims to ease tourist movement and reduce congestion in lines, a particularly pressing issue during the summer season.

The launch of an extra tourist bus route across the Ukraine-Romania border reflects growing interest among Ukrainian citizens in international travel, as well as the need to adapt infrastructure to ensure convenient and safe transportation.

This decision could positively impact the tourism industry by simplifying access to popular travel destinations, which in turn may stimulate economic development in the region.

As travel options expand, it's essential to stay informed about current border conditions. Recently, bus crossings at the Polish border have been suspended due to roadwork, which could affect travel plans for those heading in that direction.
