A man was arrested in Vinnytsia region with a grenade: how the special forces prevented a tragedy

On the night of September 6 to 7, police detained a 62-year-old man in the Illinets community of Vinnytsia region, who threatened to detonate a grenade. The incident occurred at the home of his ex-wife. This was reported by

The man was detained. His actions have been preliminarily classified under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - 'Illegal handling of weapons, military ammunition or explosive substances'. Such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years.

The woman, to whom the man came, reported that he was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, holding a grenade and threatening to blow it up.

All emergency services, including special forces and explosives experts, arrived at the scene. Law enforcement officers found the man in the same village and persuaded him to leave the grenade in a safe place and surrender.

Explosives experts defused the RGD-5 grenade, avoiding a tragedy.

A case has been opened for illegal handling of weapons and the origin of the grenade is being investigated.
