Zaporizhia NPP Loses Water for Cooling: What Threat Does This Pose

Cooling Condition of Reactors at ZNPP
В Запоріжжі НПП без води для охолодження: які наслідки це може мати?

The latest news from the IAEA reports that the supply of water for cooling the reactors of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant is somewhat hampered. Currently, six reactors at the plant are in a cold shutdown state but still require water for cooling safety systems. It should be noted that the plant has lost connection to one of the power lines, complicating its operation. Unfortunately, there are issues with the supply of cooling water for the reactors due to technical reasons, especially in hot weather when water evaporates quickly. Additionally, there have previously been explosions, smoke, and shelling near the plant, which directly threatens the safety of the facility and may overall jeopardize the stability of its operation. All these complications require immediate solutions to ensure the safety of the nuclear power plant and avoid negative consequences for the environment and human life.
