A checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border in Transcarpathia has been temporarily closed: what is known
The movement at the Ukrainian-Romanian checkpoint 'Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmație' in Transcarpathia has been temporarily restricted since December 2, 2025. Border guards have advised travelers to choose alternative routes. This decision is related to the update of the working hours of the checkpoint – now it will operate from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM from Monday to Friday for vehicle traffic.
The update of the schedule is due to repair works on the bridge, which will necessitate closing the road. As a result, vehicle traffic through the checkpoint is expected to face delays of up to 22 days. Drivers are being warned and advised to plan their trips in advance, choosing other options for crossing the border.
Recommendations for drivers and border crossing options
Other Ukrainian-Romanian vehicle checkpoints where the border can be crossed are: 'Porubne – Siret', 'Dyakove – Halmeu', 'Dyakivtsi – Rakovec', 'Krasnoilsk – Vicovu de Sus'. There are no restrictions for pedestrians at 'Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmație'.
In case of an urgent need to cross the border through the 'Solotvyno – Sighetu Marmație' checkpoint, it is advised to visit other border crossing points mentioned above.
