Suspicions against members of parliament

According to НАБУ: The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) announced suspicion against five members of parliament who became participants of an organized criminal group operating in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This group ensured the unlawful benefit of deputies for their votes.

Structure of the organized criminal group

According to information, the participants of the organized criminal group had a hierarchical structure and a clear distribution of roles. It included both current members of parliament and officials of the apparatus of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The activities of the group were coordinated by one of the members of parliament. Participants sent instructions with project numbers via the WhatsApp messenger, and after voting, cash was systematically handed over to certain deputies.

All five suspects have been presented with motions for the selection of preventive measures. Further investigative actions in this case are ongoing.

This case is an important step in the fight against corruption in Ukraine as it emphasizes the seriousness of the problem of abuse of power.

The suspicion against deputies who are supposed to represent the interests of citizens causes public resonance and requires close attention from law enforcement agencies. The investigation may become a catalyst for further reforms in the Ukrainian parliament and improve the transparency of the work of government institutions.
