The National Bank has established the operating mode for banks during the New Year: how transfers and payments will work

Bank operating mode at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026

According to ХВИЛЯ: The National Bank of Ukraine has established the operating mode for banks and payments at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026. Transfers and payments will be available around the clock, and banks and the currency market will operate in normal mode during the holidays.

The NBU's electronic payment system will function continuously 24 hours a day; however, on December 30, the National Bank limited the operations of the State Treasury due to the closing of the financial year. State payments in foreign currency must be made by 13:00, and in hryvnias - by 16:00. It should also be noted that on December 31 and January 1, the National Bank will temporarily suspend Treasury payments.

Ensuring convenience for clients

Furthermore, the NBU has required banks to replenish ATMs and cash registers by December 16, 2025, to ensure convenience for clients during the holiday period.

These decisions by the National Bank of Ukraine demonstrate a desire to ensure the stability of the financial system and comfort for users of banking services during holiday days. Establishing clear deadlines for state payments helps avoid delays in financial operations, which can be particularly important in the context of closing the financial year.
