Joint Efforts by Ukraine’s National Guard and Israeli Police Ensure Safety in Uman During Rosh Hashanah 2026
Coordinated Security Measures in Uman for Rosh Hashanah 2026
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: The National Guard of Ukraine, alongside various units from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Israeli police forces, are working together to maintain public safety in Uman during the 2026 Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage. Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko shared updates on security operations via Facebook, emphasizing the critical role of inter-agency coordination.
Commander Pivnenko personally inspected the National Guard’s deployment in Uman, visited the operational command center, and assessed the locations where personnel are stationed. Special focus has been placed on the deployment of foot patrols, checkpoint management, and canine units.
“We have established seamless collaboration among all involved agencies. Effective coordination is the foundation of safety in Uman throughout the entire pilgrimage period,” said Oleksandr Pivnenko.
Collaborative Security Roles Across Agencies
Security efforts include National Guard units, other components of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, additional service representatives, and Israeli police officers. Israeli law enforcement is partnering with their Ukrainian counterparts to patrol the areas frequented by Breslov Hasidic pilgrims. Foreign officers will remain in Uman until the conclusion of Rosh Hashanah, which begins on the evening of September 11 and ends on the evening of September 13, marking the start of the Jewish year 5787. Around 40,000 Hasidim are expected to arrive in Uman for the celebration.
Throughout the entire duration of the events, National Guard personnel will operate on a continuous heightened alert to ensure the safety and peace of local residents and visitors alike.
“Our troops will maintain round-the-clock enhanced duty during the mass gatherings,” highlighted Oleksandr Pivnenko, underlining the comprehensive security measures in place to preserve calm during the festivities.
Securing Rosh Hashanah celebrations, which draw thousands of pilgrims to Uman, represents a significant effort to uphold public order and exemplifies the strong cooperation between Ukrainian and Israeli law enforcement agencies. This model of joint patrolling may serve as a valuable framework for managing security at other large-scale events throughout Ukraine.
While safety measures are being reinforced in Uman for Rosh Hashanah, concerns about potential threats remain. In light of this, the U.S. Embassy has issued warnings for American citizens, advising them to avoid travel to Uman during this period.
