Applying for the National Cashback Card as a Pensioner

According to ХВИЛЯ: Pensioners who do not own smartphones can apply for a physical National Cashback card through a bank or Ukrposhta, the national postal service. This card enables spending on Ukrainian goods and utility services, but cash withdrawals are not permitted.

Two Methods for Card Application

There are two available application channels:

  • The first option is to apply at a bank. Applicants must present their passport and tax identification number. The banking system will automatically recognize purchases of Ukrainian goods and credit the cashback to the new card.
  • The second method is to apply via Ukrposhta. In this case, a special account can be opened at a post office branch or arranged through a postal carrier.

When applying through Ukrposhta, pensioners can utilize a one-time spring supplement of 1,500 hryvnias along with any accumulated cashback. The post office also offers the ability to pay utility bills for electricity, gas, or water, and to subscribe to newspapers or magazines.

Furthermore, basic domestically produced goods are sold at post offices. It is crucial to remember that cashback cannot be withdrawn as cash or transferred to another card. Funds on the card are designated for utility payments, domestic goods, medicines, and charitable donations.

The introduction of a physical National Cashback card for pensioners without smartphone access is a significant step in supporting socially vulnerable groups. This initiative is part of a broader government program to stimulate the domestic economy and provide targeted financial support. It allows pensioners to more easily purchase Ukrainian goods and pay utility bills without leaving home. Additionally, the 1,500 hryvnia spring supplement, usable in conjunction with cashback, is expected to improve the financial situation for many elderly citizens.
