NABU Revealed Corruption Risks in Defense Procurement: What Will Change

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau is actively working to enhance integrity in the defense sector. It is crucial to ensure transparency and honesty, especially in the context of armed conflict. NABU focuses on analyzing and reducing corruption risks in the field of defense procurement.

During an international event at NATO headquarters in Brussels, acting head of the integrity department for security and defense at NABU, Marta Ivashkiv, emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Alliance and the implementation of international standards in the Ukrainian defense sector.

“We emphasize advanced practices and recommendations from NATO. Collaboration with the Alliance supports our integration into Euro-Atlantic structures”

Marta Ivashkiv spoke about achievements in the area of integrity and the implementation of international standards in the defense sector. Analyzing the corruption risks in the procurement of drones and electronic warfare systems for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, she highlighted the strategic analysis of risks during martial law.

She also mentioned the importance of cooperation with the public and government institutions to implement NABU's recommendations. Gratitude was expressed to the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense for their support and enhancement of the effectiveness of defense procurement.

It is essential to do everything possible to ensure that the Ukrainian defense sector is maximally transparent, effective, and protected from corruption.
