All-Ukrainian DOBRYNSKA NEXT Multi-Event Championship

According to Главком: On May 23, the city of Vinnytsia hosted the nationwide DOBRYNSKA NEXT track and field multi-event tournament, organized by Olympic champion Nataliia Dobrynska. More than 100 children and young athletes representing eight regions of Ukraine took part in the event. The competition aims to promote athletics and multi-event disciplines among youth, support emerging talent, and help build a modern sports culture in Ukraine. Organizers have confirmed that the tournament will become an annual tradition.

Age Groups and Events

The DOBRYNSKA NEXT tournament featured six age categories, starting from ages 7–8 up to young adults over 19. Participants competed in three disciplines:

  • hurdles or flat sprint,
  • long jump or high jump,
  • shot put.

In addition, demonstration races were organized for children under 7, along with family-style competitions for parents.

DOBRYNSKA NEXT is more than just a sports competition. For me, it’s essential to create a space where children can believe in themselves, feel supported, and fall in love with sport. We want Ukrainian stadiums to once again become places of strength, growth, and family bonding.

In a related development, Dobrynska was elected to the governing council of World Athletics in 2023, replacing Sergii Bubka, who had served on the council since 2001. On the international stage, Ukrainian athletes have also been making headlines. Yuliia Levchenko won gold at the Diamond League meeting in China, clearing 1.99 meters. Iryna Herashchenko, who took silver at the same event, returned to competition for the first time since 2024 after taking a season off following the birth of her child.

The DOBRYNSKA NEXT tournament highlights the importance of supporting young athletes in Ukraine and fostering a strong sports culture among the next generation. Initiatives like this can have a positive impact on the popularity of track and field, helping children build not only athletic skills but also social values. At the same time, the achievements of Ukrainian female athletes on the world stage underscore the high potential of Ukrainian competitors and their ability to reach significant milestones in sport.

As the DOBRYNSKA NEXT tournament underscores the growing support for young athletes in Ukraine, it's essential to recognize the standout performances of top athletes in recent months. For instance, April brought remarkable achievements from Livach and Dmytruk, who have been leading the charge in their respective disciplines. Their success not only inspires the next generation but also highlights the importance of nurturing talent at all levels in the sports community.
