Classes in Kyiv schools will resume on Monday, February 2

Starting Monday, February 2, educational institutions in Kyiv will resume the educational process. Each school will independently choose the format of education — in-person, remote, or blended — depending on the security situation and the availability of heating and electricity. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration writes.

According to Valentyn Mondryivskyi, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, educational institutions designated as support points will operate in the format chosen by the pedagogical councils. In case of emergencies, these schools may switch to the mode of support points, and education will be transferred to a distance format.

School leaders must inform parents and students about the format of the educational process by January 30. At the same time, families can choose the safest and most comfortable option for their child's participation in education. The format may change depending on the development of the situation in a specific district of the city.

Resuming classes after the holidays

The decision to resume the educational process was made during the meeting of the Permanent Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergencies after assessing the state of the educational sector and the damage caused to the energy system due to shelling. It is also in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine's resolution to extend winter holidays until February 1 and recommendations for communities to determine the conditions for resuming education independently.

The Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration noted that the process of resuming classes will be coordinated together with district state administrations. In case of new challenges related to the full-scale war, the operation of institutions will be adjusted promptly.
