Marina Barinina's Role on the State Audit Committee

According to НАЗК: Marina Barinina, Head of the Internal Audit Sector at Ukraine's National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NAZK), has joined the State Audit Committee of the Accounting Chamber as an independent expert. This advisory body, chaired by Accounting Chamber Head Olha Pishchanska, consists of six members, including representatives from the Accounting Chamber and two independent experts. The establishment of such committees, which enhance oversight and transparency, is mandated by Ukraine's Budget Code. This move is part of broader anti-corruption reforms supported by international partners.

The committee's other independent member is Valerii Heyets, a Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Its primary goal is to improve audit processes and boost management efficiency within state institutions.

It is noteworthy that NAZK itself operates an internal Audit Committee responsible for monitoring and evaluating the agency's activities. Barinina's participation in the State Audit Committee therefore highlights the growing emphasis on internal audit and control mechanisms in Ukraine. The creation of such bodies is a significant step toward greater transparency and efficiency in public finances.

This appointment underscores the critical importance of independent oversight in managing state resources. This is especially relevant given current economic challenges and the need to bolster public trust in government institutions. The involvement of experts with audit committee experience can help implement better management practices and ensure greater transparency in state budget expenditures.
